On a warm summer solstice,
I look out my window,
At the star-studded night sky—
A canvas painted
A raven’s black
Scattered with glitter
Across the horizon.
I begin to count
Each celestial gem.
Hopeful the endeavor
Might grant me repose.
Then I stop,
Wondering how long
It would take me
To add up all the stars
In the night sky.
The answer was obvious—
It would take an eternity.
And I smiled to myself
For my mind had drifted
To thoughts of you…
Yes, an eternity.
That’s how long
I’ll be loving you.
More dose of prose
I look out my window,
At the star-studded night sky—
A canvas painted
A raven’s black
Scattered with glitter
Across the horizon.
I begin to count
Each celestial gem.
Hopeful the endeavor
Might grant me repose.
Then I stop,
Wondering how long

To add up all the stars
In the night sky.
The answer was obvious—

And I smiled to myself
For my mind had drifted
To thoughts of you…
Yes, an eternity.
That’s how long
I’ll be loving you.
