Eternity

On a warm summer solstice,
I look out my window,
At the star-studded night sky—
A canvas painted
A raven’s black
Scattered with glitter
Across the horizon.
I begin to count
Each celestial gem.
Hopeful the endeavor
Might grant me repose.
Then I stop,
Wondering how long
It would take me
To add up all the stars
In the night sky.
The answer was obvious—
It would take an eternity.
And I smiled to myself
For my mind had drifted
To thoughts of you…
Yes, an eternity.
That’s how long
I’ll be loving you.

Love is…

Love is an extraordinary feeling,
It resides in the heart,
Filling an empty void,
Lifting a lowly spirit,
Igniting a dormant soul,
It is invisible, immaterial,
But its presence,
So strong, so deep, so fervent.
It is a feeling beyond words,
A feeling beyond dreams,
A feeling beyond truth,
A feeling beyond desire,
A feeling beyond passion,
A feeling beyond heaven,
A feeling beyond Forever…
