Risk

I fell.
Into an abyss,
That loomed infinitely before my eyes.
My vision was clouded.
My mind intoxicated.
Then I landed feet first.
On quicksand.
Panic strangulated me.
I struggled to lift myself onto higher ground.
I succeeded.
Then I saw a brightness.
I thought it was my way out.
So I pursued it.
I held back when I saw what it was—
A layer of smoldering coals.
It lured me.
I had to succumb.
My feet made contact with the blazing embers.
A sultry vapor engulfed me, consumed me.
I opened myself up to the risk.
My body took on an influence of its own.
I was mystified, vulnerable.
Yet, I felt stimulation, rather than pain.
I saw you standing just a few feet away.
You held out your hand to touch me.
Gradually we came together.
In poignant ecstasy.
Our bodies locked.
The heat subsided.
Slowly we were raised up.
A cool breeze enclosed around us.
As we reached the pinnacle of Love.

Immortal

In my grotesque solitude,
I long for redemption,
From our Love’s cavalry.
Distance seems a cruel,
Merciless obstacle,
To which an end,
Appears to be nonexistent.
Words are but our lifeline,
Next to our hearts.
Yet, we long for more,
The promise of reunion.
Your words mold my survival,
For which I hunger and thirst.
Yet, I long to see you,
To hear the words
Spoken from your very lips.
Sleep allows escape,
Conjures my imagination.
In dreams, your image so clear,
My blissful visage so vivid.
Our fingers entwined,
As we make gleeful tracks,
Through fields of green.
We recline on a carpet
Of daffodils and daisies.
A picturesque sight as I lie
Encompassed in your arms,
Underneath a pale blue sky.
Awakening brings me despair,
At the realization,
That all was but a vision
Of my aching heart.
Yet, I am enthralled,
By the resilience of true Love.
As each day elapses,
It manifests an evolving strength,
And overcomes life’s predicaments.
Like an Evergreen tree that grows sturdy,
And withstands harsh wintry weather.
One day, our eyes shall meet again,
Our palms shall touch once more,
Our bodies shall feel invigorating warmth,
As two mortals coincide.
For Hope is Immortal,
As is Love.

Eternity

On a warm summer solstice,
I look out my window,
At the star-studded night sky—
A canvas painted
A raven’s black
Scattered with glitter
Across the horizon.
I begin to count
Each celestial gem.
Hopeful the endeavor
Might grant me repose.
Then I stop,
Wondering how long
It would take me
To add up all the stars
In the night sky.
The answer was obvious—
It would take an eternity.
And I smiled to myself
For my mind had drifted
To thoughts of you…
Yes, an eternity.
That’s how long
I’ll be loving you.

Love is…

Love is an extraordinary feeling,
It resides in the heart,
Filling an empty void,
Lifting a lowly spirit,
Igniting a dormant soul,
It is invisible, immaterial,
But its presence,
So strong, so deep, so fervent.
It is a feeling beyond words,
A feeling beyond dreams,
A feeling beyond truth,
A feeling beyond desire,
A feeling beyond passion,
A feeling beyond heaven,
A feeling beyond Forever…

Sanguine Lovers

A solitary maiden sits on the bank of a languid river,
Her eyes fixed on the translucent water,
Glistening with every ripple,
Appearing as if the stars had fallen
From the night sky,
And had been submerged beneath the surface
Where their radiance attempted to break free.
She was physically present,
However, her cognition was soaring,
High above the lush green forest,
The towering mountain tops,
The birds in easy flight.
